TIGER x leManoosh | Battlebots Reimagined Through Digital Finishes

A full recap of the exciting contest showcasing a unique application of our digital finishes.

Design Your Beast | Where Creativity Met TIGER Digital Finishes(TDFs)

Earlier this year, TIGER teamed up with leManoosh to host a unique challenge, Design Your Beast, reimagining a battle-ready robot with bold ideas and innovative surface finishes. Designers from around the world pushed their creativity to the limit—experimenting with armor, vision systems, and full redesigns—while showcasing how our TIGER Digital Finishes (TDFs) can elevate any concept from raw CAD to stunningly realistic visuals.

And the results? A collection of striking designs that proved just how versatile our digital surface finishes can be in industrial design.

Winning Designs & The Digital Finishes Behind Them

From futuristic armor plating to beast-mode exteriors, the winning concepts stood out not just for their ingenuity, but for their use of TIGER’s digital color and effect files.

Here are a few examples of the standout entries—brought to life with TIGER Digital Finishes:

  • Finishes reflecting real-world like textures that added depth and realism to protective armor
  • High-gloss accents that emphasized speed and performance
  • Matte finishes that gave designs a stealth, battle-ready feel

These projects demonstrated that surface finishing is more than a detail—it’s a defining element of design.

Contest Winner - Joseph Stockley

Let's hear from Joseph about his design process during this competition. “I went through a tonne of variation on the armor plate design, but settled on what you see here as the best blend between aesthetics, manufacturability and functionality.”

Iconic, functional and fun! it’s a perfect example of what happens when design, storytelling, and performance align.

Joseph reimagines HyperShock with a bold yet manufacturable upgrade, enhancing its iconic form without compromising its identity. From quick sketches to CAD and Blender visuals, every detail was designed with real-world feasibility in mind.

The color combination and strong graphics (TIGER pattern, fun icon when the car is upside down) made this concept stand out both visually and functionally. A true champion design. Massive respect to Joseph for delivering a project that inspires and sets a high bar for the future.

1st Runner Up - Josep Pedro

Among all the creative submissions. This is a very strong concept that earned its spot on the podium.

“I started designing a wheel but it ended with a full concept focused on wheel protection. Also trying to create something very linear and geometric but with an automotive feeling.”

Josep introduces a visionary wheel solution that uses hard materials instead of traditional inflated wheels, making the structure far more resistant to impact during battle. This clever choice doesn’t just improve durability, it also adds a unique visual and functional edge to the design.

The wheel solution, simplicity and great attention to detail (anodized screws for example), sparked a lot of interest for its fresh thinking and real-world application. Very exciting to see a designer challenge conventions and offer something both creative, stylish and practical.

2nd Runner Up - Barsky Nicolas

Now… time to celebrate another beast that caught our eyes and sparked a serious debate between TIGER, Le Manoosh & HyperShock.

“This exoskeleton has been designed as a continuous wrap-around structure, reinforcing protection while visually conveying speed and aggression.”

A bold redesign with a feline-inspired exoskeleton. Strong top view with a clear aluminum cross structure armor (clean & aggressive), refined details like screw holes and buttons, creative graphics, and outstanding rendering with realistic materials and surface wear. This Beast looks fast, fierce, and ready for the arena!

Honorable Mention - Roberto Lonni

“In the arena, being a ‘beast’ isn’t about brute force, it’s about adaptability.”

Inspired by real battle moments, Roberto created the B.E.A.S.T. system, a modular shell that allows the robot to shift and adapt before it even enters the arena. The reinforced core structure brings strength, but the real brilliance lies in its ability to evolve with standout features like protective airbags or jet boosters.

His work earned the Honourable Mention for a reason. Beyond the concept itself, Roberto’s presentation was detailed, well thought out, and clearly communicated his design thinking from start to finish reflected joy and creativity behind every design choice. We’re truly impressed by the level of care and innovation he brought to the project, an outstanding piece of work that absolutely deserves recognition.
