Green Products

Powder coating is the greenest and most effective coating technology currently available to the industry. Solvent-free baking enamels are processed in a multi-stage production process into a fine powder coating that is applied using an electrostatic spray device and then melted and chemically bonded in the subsequent curing process at temperatures of 150 to 200 °C.

The success story of powder coating in industrial surface finishing started in the 1960s, has been subject to constant innovations since then and continues to impress its users today with numerous advantages:

Sustainability impacts on all the research and development activities at the modern TIGER R&D Center.
Our current research focus is on:

  • Lowering the curing temperatures
  • Reducing the film thickness
  • Maximizing the lifespan of the coating
  • Developing solar reflective coatings to reduce building temperatures
  • Enabling the product´s reuse (recycling)
  • Searching for substitute materials for CMR components (CMR = carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reprotoxic)
  • Using bio-based raw materials

Sustainable powder coating: 5 tips for coating operators

Powder coating is sustainable. This statement is largely based on the composition and production process of the powder coatings themselves - but coaters can also do something for the environment! This article gives you five tips with which you can make your coating process more sustainable. The measures will not only have a positive effect on your own ecological footprint, but also on your profitability.

Green energy for a green future

Prices for electricity, gas and heat are currently at record levels. Energy-efficient management and a sustainable lifestyle are therefore more important than ever - for companies and private households alike. Against this backdrop, the automotive industry is also facing a profound change - away from fossil fuels and toward electromobility.

Low-cure powder coatings

 as an energy-efficient alternative

Their properties allow low-cure powder coatings to significantly improve manufacturing processes in terms of sustainability and productivity. Lower temperatures in the curing oven mean less oil, gas and/or electricity consumption. This also reduces CO2 emissions, which are known to contribute to global warming. The user, in turn, benefits from accelerated turnaround times as objects reach the desired temperature faster.

Peneder: Powder Coating with Biomass

When investigating your company’s ecological impact, it is not enough to just consider your own operations. In our specific case there also must be looked into the upstream supply chain and, even more importantly, the processing of the powder that TIGER produces. One of our long-lasting customers, Peneder, serves as a showcase example for powder applicators and demonstrates how they managed to greatly reduce their emissions when powder coating.
