Outdoor kitchens have become increasingly popular. And that's no wonder, since more and more people like to invest into their own homes. Outdoor kitchens allow for a very special cooking experience and bring everyday life to the outdoors during the summer months. Thus, the outdoor area turns into an extended living space and a place for relaxation and recovery.
STEININGER is positioning itself at the top of this market segment with the ROCK.AIR Outdoor Kitchen: both in terms of appearance and functionality. And TIGER is contributing its part. With metallic powder coatings, we not only ensure a perfect look, but also the durability of the surfaces.
In the following interview, Martin Steininger tells us more about this exciting outdoor living product.

The ROCK.AIR Outdoor Kitchen
The modular outdoor kitchen ROCK.AIR combines innovative design with high-tech functionality. Individual kitchen cubes can be combined separately to serve different purposes: Gas or lava grill, sink, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer element with ice maker, storage space or fireplace.
"TIGER was originally recommended to us through one of our suppliers. What we quickly came to appreciate - apart from the product quality - is the exceptional service and the direct contact with our representatives. We have the feeling that someone is there to take care of us."
TIGER: What inspired you for the design of the ROCK.AIR Outdoor Kitchen?
Martin Steininger: The ROCK.AIR already had a predecessor that was designed for indoor use - the ROCK Kitchen. However, due to the stone material, it was not suitable for outdoor use. So when the trend towards outdoor kitchens emerged, a new idea was needed, and so I decided to adapt the old design of the ROCK accordingly. Above all, the material concept had to be re-imagined.
TIGER: What was the design process like?
Martin Steininger: As with most designs, the process begins with the selection of materials. We have to check which options are available to us for the application we are considering. Once the question "What can we work with?" is answered, a rough design is created, which is later transferred into detail. Especially in the area of surface design, it is particularly important for us to incorporate the expertise of our service providers.
TIGER: What role did surface design play in this context?
Martin Steininger: The surface is one of the highlights and, among other things, the first thing that is perceived about our kitchen. The right color, but also special effects are crucial here. Apart from that, there are some functional requirements for the surface and the coating: On the one hand, it must be heat-resistant, and on the other hand, it must protect against corrosion. This is particularly important in corrosive environments such as salty sea air.
TIGER: Why did you decide on powder coating?
Martin Steininger: The demands we place on our surfaces are precisely those that can be achieved through the use of powder coating. So the decision was obvious.
TIGER: How would you describe working with TIGER?
Martin Steininger: TIGER was originally recommended to us through one of our suppliers. What we quickly came to appreciate - apart from the product quality - is the exceptional service and the direct contact with our representatives. We have the feeling that someone is there to take care of us. The regional proximity to the facility in Wels also benefits us.
TIGER: The best location to place an outdoor kitchen?
Martin Steininger: Ideally, have the kitchen installed right where life happens: in the garden or on the terrace, where family and guests gather. Of course, a roof also makes sense, and the position of the sun also plays an important role - adjusted to your cooking habits.
An outdoor kitchen should be easily accessible and operable from all sides. As for the floor of a outdoor kitchen, it makes sense to have a flat, solid surface, with a resistance to soiling. Grease drops or red wine stains, for example, cannot be avoided. However, these should not be able to soak into the material. Stone slabs are a robust and durable covering here - both for the floor and for the countertops. The surface is easier to keep clean with oil-repellent impregnation of natural stones. Wood should be treated with oil every year.
TIGER: Thank you very much for the interesting interview!
