Powder Coating for Warehouse & Racking
Powder Coatings offer more durable options
The issues with surface imperfections:
What can make you sadder than having ugly scratches on a smooth, shiny powder coated surface? Scratches not only mess up that perfect surface but can lead to accelerated corrosion of the substrate!
Definitions:
Scratches are thin shallow cuts or marks made using a pointed or sharp object on the surface.
Marring is related to physical deformation or markings left on a relatively large area of the surface of a coating from rubbing, but usually does not break through the surface. Often observed as gloss or slight shade difference.
Abrasion involves wear and tear of friction caused by mechanical parts and instances of repetitive scraping or rubbing.
In general, abrasion resistance is needed for coatings that will be exposed to wear and mechanical damage in service. Abrasion-resistant coatings are applied to a substrate intended to prevent mechanical damage that can result in surface imperfections. They are widely used to reduce wear & tear to extend the service life of coated parts.
By developing highly abrasion-resistant powder coatings, TIGER has made it possible to achieve extraordinary improvements that provide lasting abrasion resistance yet it only needs a single coat – and all without impairing the visual purity, gloss, color or physical properties of the powder coatings in any way
Going the extra mile for outstanding performance
With a TIGER AR (abrasion resistant) formulation, the abrasion resistance can be improved by up to 100% over that of a conventional powder coating (as measured by Taber® abrader testing), and with no additional wear-and-tear on the powder application equipment.
Most TIGER products are available in an abrasion and/or scratch/mar resistant formulations upon request. Ask your TIGER Representative for additional details.
Don’t forget the Environment!
The powder coating process has little impact on the environment. It requires no harmful solvents and does not emit vapors or fumes like liquid paint.
…or Health & Safety!
Even though wearing protective gear is still recommended when spraying powder coatings, they do not pose the health threat other finishes may cause. Recently applied liquid paint releases VOCs at a fast rate. While off gassing from liquid paint slows down over time, there is no concern about VOC off-gassing with fully cured powder coatings. The main point to remember is that powder coating decreases the wear and tear of the finish, resulting in decreased maintenance cost and greater life cycle of the parts. Keep your warehouse racking looking better longer with powder coatings.
