TIGER Drylac® Powder Coatings for HVAC Applications
Powder coating has become prominent in the HVAC market and is known to be aesthetically pleasing but also durable. Metal, steel and aluminum are typical substrates that make up the unit. However, powder coating requirements can vary in the HVAC market depending on the environment of the application (exterior versus interior) and the geographical area where the unit is located (coastal area compared to inland ie. Southern Florida/California vs. Des Moines/Iowa).
TIGER Drylac® has a full product line for all your HVAC powder coating needs. Whether your equipment is a furnace, air conditioner (condensing units or coils), HVAC ventilation or ductwork – we got you covered!
TIGER Powder Coatings for Different HVAC Applications:
• If you are looking for maximum protection of exterior units located in an extremely harsh environment the TIGER Shield 2-coat system is your solution. TIGER Shield consists of a Zinc Rich or Zinc-Free Primer, plus a Super Durable Topcoat. This is the best protection you can get! It provides lasting corrosion protection for steel and galvanized substrates.
• For strong protection of exterior units located in an extremely harsh environment where corrosion resistance is paramount TIGER SealKor is a one-coat solution comparable to conventional two-coat systems (primer + topcoat). SealKor has a built-in Primer to provide great protection in a 1-coat product.
• Where exterior units are in an extremely harsh environment where color & gloss retention is paramount, Super Durable polyester powder coating has built-in protection against damaging UV rays. The polyester powder is used as a colorful, durable topcoat. Super Durable polyester has extra UV resistance to prevent color and gloss fade.
• Exterior units located in a moderate environment will last over the long term with standard polyester powder coatings. The polyester powder is used as a colorful, durable topcoat. Look for one listed to AAMA 2603, as an indication of superior quality.
• Interior units located in an air-conditioned environment do not require extensive weather protection. Use an Epoxy/Polyester Hybrid powder coating to keep your equipment looking new. These Hybrids will hold up well against chemical cleaners but should have limited exposure to UV light.
It is evident that coating requirements vary, however, no matter what type of HVAC application you are facing hopefully this blog helped you get a better understanding of what powder coatings should be used for, to receive the most optimal results.
